CB 1.2 RC Released to doc subscribers and supporters
Community Builder - Announcements

After a grueling, lengthy and patience taxing process, the CB Team is proud to announce the release of CB 1.2 RC to its documentation subscribers and its supporters.

As already mentioned in previous Joomlapolis articles (here), CB 1.2 (codename [eleftheria]) is the first CB release that operates natively in three CMS code-bases (Joomla 1.0.X, Joomla 1.5.X and Mambo compatible) without the need for extra (legacy type) plugins or libraries.

In addition to this cross CMS freedom, CB 1.2 RC has a great deal of additional features and enhancements.

A non-exhaustive list of the new CB 1.2 RC features has already been posted here.

The CB Team would like to thank the entire community, its documentation subscribers, its test team, its forum helpers, the third party developers and its newbies.

Documentation subscribers will find the CB 1.2 RC distribution package along with and updated CB 1.2 RC detailed documentation pdf file in their authorized download area.

Once again, we would like to thank our supporter and contributors and to ask them to post their feedback, findings, potential bugs, and documentation suggestions to the new forum areas created on Joomlapolis (here). Your feedback is needed in order to reach a stable release as soon as possible.

Tuesday, 13 May 2008

As we are approaching the CB 1.2 RC release (codename [ELEFTHERIA]) for our supporters (track status here), the CB Team would like to officially outline some of the many new features that are currently in CB 1.2 and are being tested by our test team as we speak. This is by no means an exaustive list and is meant solely to inform and prepare our community regarding the really nice work that has been implemented. CB 1.2 RC will be released first to our documentation subscribers (click here to subscribe for 2008 now!) as a special thank you for their support and then later on to the community. This will happen as soon as it passes CB test team tests, hopefully within the next week.

CB 1.2 Status Report
Community Builder - Announcements

The first beta of version 1.2 of the Community Builder suite was released to the CB test team on January 1st, 2008. Yes, it was a new year’s surprise for the test team members. Since then a lot of things have happened.

CB 1.2 beta 2 (Jan. 19, 2008), CB 1.2 beta 3 (Jan. 30, 2008), CB 1.2 beta 4 (Feb. 2, 2008) and currently at CB 1.2 beta 5 (since Feb. 9, 2008).

The CMS environments have also been rapidly changing. After the release of Mambo 4.6.3 (by the Mambo team) in December 2007 the Joomla team released version 1.5 of its CMS (Jan. 22, 2008), followed by 1.5.1 (Feb. 9, 2008), Joomla 1.0.14 (Feb. 11, 2008) and Joomla 1.0.15 (Feb. 22, 2008).

These multiple consecutive releases of practically 3 different CMS environments really challenged the CB teams (developers and testers). The strategy of the CB team has been to support all flavors of the Joomla and Mambo releases for as long as possible. This simple statement has been the CB Team’s commitment to its community.

For those of us that have been (patiently) following the progress of the CB Subscriptions plugin, the CB Team would like to inform you that the plugin is currently in alpha testing and we are gearing up for the first beta test phase.

We have created a special forum area about this plugin and have already announced a beta testing phase and are requesting experienced users to assist us in this effort. For more information please read the forum post here.

The CB subscriptions plugin is a paid membership management system built around CB and Joomla/Mambo. It currently supports Paypal, Authorize.Net and Yellowpay and has a ton of features!
