If you have it set as you do in those images, I think you have to change the setting from 'Normal CB Settings' to 'User can control privacy' for the privacy plugin to work on that tab.
This is only a problem when you want to hide a tab that has no user front end edit (the other thread mentions this).
I do not wish to give the user privacy control of that tab, the tab is visible on the profile and always should be, but, when editing the profile I wish to have the tab hidden there.
this works fine for fields but not tabs, i thought the features where the same for controlling privacy on fields and tabs?
Hmmm, sounds like you want pretty much what I want (to set the tabs as admin and not to let the user have control). I don't think the thing is quite up to this yet (hence the hack that I posted in the other thread). I have managed to do this by setting it to allow as previously stated (otherwise it doesn't work at all), and disallowing the user control by editing the code to disable the save and overwrite options for the tabs. I then just entered into the database the rule I wanted for all the tabs.
This seems to be holding up for me until the new RC version is released that will include a 'blanket rule' that the administrator can set for a tab (requested in the other thread and Beat kindly said that this was a reasonable request and will be implemented in the next version).
