Lists can't be restricted

Lists can't be restricted was created by carina
Hi,

I am sorry, but either we just don't manage to operate this system, or it is not working properly.

I started here:
www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,38/func,view/catid,48/id,104825/#104825

Thought it was strange that content that was blocked for other subscribers was still so easy to access for others. The solution is a shaky code hacking, but I've tried and then the issues seems to pile up:

USER LIST 1 - Shall be visible and available for all subscribers A, B, C and D
USER LIST 2 - Shall be visible and aVailable for A only

USER LIST 1 is a menu item in USER MENU.
USER LIST 2 is a menu item in MENU 2.

MENU 2 blocked in Integrations (By Menu). Still everyone can both see and access.(Filed a topic about that this morning: www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,38/func,view/catid,107/id,108249/#108249)

URL:s are blocked in Integrations (By URL parts). Both the url to the list (option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&listid=2) and the url to the search mode (option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&listid=6&searchmode=2)

Changed the code so that list drop-down and "list all" is not visible any more.
www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,/func,view/catid,64/id,80312/#80312

Now, the search doesn't work properly any longer. Can for instance not search on username or anything in USER LIST 1. Can only search on other search criteria than user name in USER LIST 2. When returning the result (0 found) when searching USER LIST 1, it switches from user list 1 to user list 2!

It seems that, regardless of what I do, there is always some visible and easy way for anyone to access a list they should not. If I leave the drop-down as originally coded, it is there for everyone. I think that a hidden part of the system should always be hidden without having to figure out some hack to the code in obvious areas.

Any real solution to this, please?

Thanks,

C

Just tried to protect user list using URL protection and things appear to work as designed.

A non-member when selecting the protected user list from drop down list is confronted with a request to apply for membership.

I have similar issue... Using Content Restrictions works, but causes other problems.

Any plans for Lists to have CBSubs restrictions like Tabs do?

We have non-paying members who should be able to see the page which containts the Members List (to be notified they should buy a membership),

And paying members who have one of three different types of subscriptions, any of which should be able to see the Members List.

But, we're just at day 1 of the setup - so who knows what we'll learn tomorrow :-)

So far we're very pleased over-all.

Userlists need two protection URLs in the By URL Part in my experience. Please see the following two examples to use for protecting URLs, one protects direct access and another protects selecting from drop-down.

option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&Itemid=YOUR_CB_ITEMID&limitstart=0&search=&listid=YOUR_LIST_ID
option=com_comprofiler&task=userslist&listid=YOUR_LIST_ID

Of course substitution out YOUR_CB_ITEMID and YOUR_LIST_ID with their actual values such as 62 and 5.
