This feature had me interested, so I performed a google search and there's literally "10's" of scripts available to do this, from basic to quality, most are charging, but some are free.
I've personally got no issues with authors charging for quality scripts, as long as they remain "OpenSource" (ie. we can see and modify the source code) and not closed source (using encryption techniques etc to hide code).
I'm not going to criticise Trail, all my kudos goes to him, but I think for such a simple feature, $175+ is a bit much to ask. It's much cheaper to just get some of the "free" scripts and post to a coders "make me an offer" auction site and they'll integrate it into joomla for you.
For me, if the price was lower, I'd seriously consider it.

i bought the import invite scripts from svetlozar.net
but its not integrated with joomla and CB yet...

Ok time to round things up then 
I promised 2 weeks and it has almost been 3.
This has to do with another developer who was working on a subscription service but who is now working on something else.
I'll aks what the status is and if it takes too much longer i'll package my initial version.
