Any update on this? The suggested method does not work. I tried adding the code to my htacccess file and no success. I even tried registering a new user afterword.

THis is what is actually needed for this to work:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ /index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user='$1' [L]

Works like a charm!

Hmm any reason why this wouldn't work? Server options? I did all the steps and still can't get it to work.

SEF works so I suppose mod_rewrite is enabled.

I know its recogizing the RewriteRule ^([^/.]+)/?$ index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user='$1' [L]
rule. Because when I try www.site.net/administrator/ it gives me a page not found.

But when I try to access a profile via www.mysite.com/userprofile it also gives me a 404 not found.

Now would the fact that my domain is able to have subdomains in the form of sub-directories have an impact on this? And if so is there a workaround?

I also access my cpanel through www.mysite.com/cpanel

Any ideas?

i have sef and seo off
