After my hosting company upgraded me to php5 I got the same kind of memory problems. I searched for an answer and came to this post. I followed the link above and after reading the condescending responses decided that I can do without Community Builder.

be prepared to deal with this problem again in the future - its not CB that is the cause of it.
most likely, you will soon install something extra that will trigger the same symptom once again.

At the beginning of the index.php file in the admin directory and the root directory, add the following:

ini_set('memory_limit','16M');

Worked on my shared host!
