I understand the situation now, thanks. It looks like the post from kenlyle below gives us what we need for a stop-gap import of our CB contacts.

Now, since I'm not an SQL person at all yet... could someone give a poor beginner who is very enthusiastic about Joomla but not a true techie a clue how to go about applying that query?

Did you ever get anywhere with this.
Seems to me if you have additional fields in the profiles covering addresses etc why do you need cb_contacts. Seems to be a doubling up of data. I had installed CB_contacts but then uninstalled it as I saw no point to it.
