On the Groupjive forum someone said 1.2 was out already... 
I wonder if all the plugins ive on now, on CB 1.1, will still work....cose if they wont.... ...i dont even wanna think about it

Nope it isn't out yet.
And yes, great care has been put into backwards compatibility below CB 1.2 (it still runs *natively* on over 5 years old Mambo 4.5.0 !!!, PHP 4.1 !!! and MySQL 3.23 !!!!!), and brand-new Joomla 1.5.3 and Mambo 4.6.4 as well.
This care is taken during development and tests ! But of course we can't guarantee that all plugins will work. For CB team member plugins, they will be running native as well on all systems, thanks to the CB API, but probably most 3pd CB plugins will need to be adapted to the new CB 1.2 API to not be needing the joomla 1.5 legacy layer (which really isn't a problem either way).

Does the CB team release the early code to the main hitters in CB extension development, or are they waiting like the rest of us? ...just wondering if they are also working on updating the code base.

Also, will there be need of CBE anymore?
Or CB 1.2 will include already wide customization options ? and hopefully more accessible ones...without having to manually edit too many files.
A "customize plugin" embedded in the new CB 1.2, with colour gradients and opacity settings, would be VERY appreciated
I believe that less add-ons we need, the better CB will work and the less issues we'll all have.
(we all know how sometimes extra plugins are just not compatible with one another...and its really frustrating  )
Come on tell us WHEN !!! Cant wait !!!
