I must say that I have the same concerns like comercemeister. I can understand that Nick and Beat don't want to have 100.000 redundant bug reports non developing users - but it would be nice to have anonymous svn/cvs access for those who are developing components on their own that should interact with community builder.
I think the average user would not do a svn/cvs checkout anyway.
I personaly don't care if there are some bugs in the RC, software without bugs is very rare.
Right now I am stuck with the development of my own component cause I am waiting for the community builder release.
If I have the code of the RC, I can continue my own development and fix community builder bugs that come into my way, and than provide the patches.
This svn access would be even worth the doc subscription for me. I don't realy need the documentation, I'll read the code anyway.
I also agree that community builder is open source - but this times it is not developed in an open source style.

 The wait is finally over.
After 10 beta releases and over 200 bug-fixes in the last month alone, CB 1.2 RC has just been made available in advance to CB Doc Subscribers 2008, with no known bugs (at this stage !) as a thank you for their support to the project.
Email to all 2008 doc subscribers will follow asap.
Please see front-page article.

The last sprint looked more like a decathlon !
Special thanks goes to all the active testers of CB testteam which did an incredible work the last months, testing relentelessly new beta after new beta (we got 10 (ten) betas into testteam).
