How many people do you think actually take the time to donate if they can get something for free? How can the developers find time to make enough money to live and support this complex component?
Unfortunately, the percentage of people who use open source software and donate to support the continued development of the software is very small. Because of this, open source developers need to be creative so that they can devote more time to working on the open source projects they have started. If more people were donating, I doubt that there would be a doc subscriber program at all.
As a Doc subscriber you also get some great documentation, which is very helpful if you are setting up Community Builder for the first time. Of course, I'd rather have everything for free, but I completely support the CB team in their decision to have a subscriber program. http://themebot.com - Free Joomla Templates http://couponsdealuxe.com - Be a cheapskate and feel great!

Fully agree with this. Make it free as it was before.

is joomlapolis is huge then joomla. somebody should tell to joomla dev they are on the wrong way , they should first relase rc first to doc-subscribers , why ?
they should not release such an important component to the public without proper testing - period. joomla is used on too many sites and forum is not properly supported by the community members. If they were release everything to everyone without proper testing, then imho they would be bombarded by thousands of duplicate questions (already answered). With this process, imho, they should get a small percentage of doc subscribers that are already familiar with the system that migh just help out other community members.
because joomla should not charge for download. joomla should do offer a yearly CB documentation subscription as a means for existing users to further support the team. Giving this group access to RC builds is just a means of thanking them for there support.
