Hehe, thanks Nick for setting the record straight. I didn't mean to insinuate the other way around. Bad semantics on my part.
John, maybe I'll upgrade some older plugins later on when I see what I have to work with in lieu of a subscription. I just got a grasp of the j1.5 api and am in the process of updating my own(free) project that I have been working on.
There are also few older components that I want to port to j 1.5 that have been abandoned that I see others charging for....so I feel I do my part to contribute to the joomla community.
Just because I'm appreciative does not mean I'm that happy

Game is OVER and CB... lost !
Jomsocial is out with many features and a REAL professional support.
I already here people saying "yes but it is a commercial product"... and my answer is "as CB is as you have to pay to get access to the RC".
The differences:
- Jomsocial was produced in a few weeks whereas CB is stucked since months.
- Jomsocial is a stable product... whereas the CB team is simply enable to produce anything stable (What ? The RC is stable ? but why is it still a RC ? Why should i pay for it if it is stable ? and remember me ... RC1, 2, 3... 4 maybe ?)
- Jomsocial never lied to their community. They announced their product, proposed a beta test, listened to their community members, fixed the bugs and released a stable product... once again just in a few weeks.
- Jomsocial is Joomla 1.5 native... which CB is still not. The CB team absolutely want to keep compatibility with joomla 1.0 which will not be supported by the joomla team itself... ridiculous !
- Jomsocial has a clear and honest market: it is an official commercial product... whereas CB claims to be a free open source product for which you have to pay to get access to the code (is it what you call FREE and OPEN SOURCE ?).
To conclude, CB strategy just proved to be wrong, as I claimed months ago. And as I expected, the CB team lost and better products are now available, with better stability and quality (jomsocial) or really for FREE (joomunity, which will be also great).
For info: I am not a jomsocial developer or owner and I paid my membership to CB months ago to "support" the project. But I am also a developer who have been waiting for months for a community system and just realized that CB was fake.
To readers: do not waste your time and money and choose jomsocial (if you can afford) or joomunity (if you can wait for a stable version which, i am sure, will come soon, and for sure, before CB 1.2 !)

I appreciate you opinion, but do not agree with it. I will not comment on your statements - even though most of them are inaccurate to say the least. I have removed your second exact copy-paste post in the other thread.

Well he's right Nant! I am just about tired of waiting and will have to move on to something else. I really like CB and really wanted to use it and I really really need a subscription plugin but I just cant wait forever to upgrade my site. I'm really hoping for a CB Christmas gift but after that I will have to look somewhere else. Sorry

Jom Social hasn't a subscription plugin. It's right, JS is really a very good Component. But is it really stable? MyBlog and Jom Comment are also "stable" but with a lot of bugs. And with JS you will have excessive load time, CB is faster. I think CB RC is more stable then the actually JS.
But... JS brings a fine Community out of the box, with messages, groups, plugins for fireboard, eventlist and so on.. with nice profiles, with all modules.. really great. I think that can be the future. Only a advanced search i am missing .. like zipcodeshop for example.
But can it handle thousands of users?
Greetings from Germany.

Jom Social hasn't a subscription plugin but cb also doesnt have one.. and i wouldnt be surprised if JS would create one...
their system uses the joomla plugin area so its easy for other developers to join and create plugins as well.
im testing the component as well and im very impressed by it and as it looks i will switch over..
but i have more reasons for that.
one thing that always bugged me was the cb design.
and yesterday when i was reading things i realised a few things..
at joomlaplazza the guy andy mentionend he was from the cb team... He wrote.... I am not part of the CB Development team
So if you look what he made of his cb profile area then i have just one question... why isnt that used for cb..
but instead cb is still stuck on the same old templates..
and i cant deny the fact that the JS looks very good.
