Username is always "root"? was created by badda
Hi, I just installed CB RC2 on Joomla 1.0.5.
Im having the following problem:
Every time, I want to update my Profile (either in the Frontend or in the Backend), the username field of my Browser is set to "root" - no matter what the username really is. This only happens in Firefox - it does not happen in IE.
By the way, this bug was already there in RC1 with Joomla 1.0.3.

Has anybody experienced the same?

yep me too. Most likely it will be something obvious but I just can't see what.

Flushed out private data from firefox and restarted it ..this seems to have cured it.

Firefox has an aggressive "forms-autofill" algorythm :(

But this algorithm only kicks off if there is no value preset inside the field. There should, however, be a preset value: the original username.

This happens with Firefox 1.5.0.1 under Windows XP. I always get "forum8" as my user ID even though I'm actually "dana3".

If I view source, I see the input field specified as:

[code:1]<input class="inputbox" type="text" size="40"
name="username" value="dana3" />[/code:1]

which clearly is supposed to pre-fill the input field with "dana3". So Joomla/CB are doing the right thing.

But, stubborn Firefox puts "forum8" in the field. I think this points straight to a bug in Firefox.

Doesn't happen with Firefox 1.5.0.1 on the Macintosh.

The only thing I don't understand is why this doesn't happen with other websites. I can't remember seeing it happen elsewhere. And I'm too lazy to go look at the bug reports for FF.
