Special Characters show up default_languag.php

Special Characters show up default_languag.php was created by bossaxe
Hi,
I am altering the last few changes into Portuguese language. I installed the language pack thought it would change the hard coded parts of the website but I guess not. So I am manually changing the TEXT on components/com_comprofiler/plugin/language/default_language/default_language.php
into Portuguese language; however, certain charcaters show up oddly.
EXAMPLE: "Opção" shows up like this "Op��o"
Any help?

Yes, utf-8 is the correct answer, another simple way around is to copy and paste directly from google search browser the correct "Acento" (character). Into your php file.
EXAMPLE ENGLISH word (production) I copy and paste from google translate (produção) and wala...no character problem. (I typed manually the characters and there was a problem)
Once I did that i didn't have any further problems.
