[SOLVED] Facebook Connect - Not working Firefox or Chrome

13 years 1 week ago - 12 years 11 months ago #159971 by olsparents
Hi folks – Hope you can help with a CB Facebook problem. I was having this
problem with the old version of CB, so I upgraded to V1.4, but the problem
still remains. The website is olsparents.com. To access the login
function, you need to click the image of a notepad on the right side of the
page header.

In Chrome or Firefox, I’m finding that when I press the ‘F Sign In’ button, a new
window opens up showing the website home page with the following URL;

www.olsparents.com/?session={%22session_key%22%3A%22[....number
removed….]%22%2C%22uid%22%3A[….number
removed….]%2C%22expires%22%3A1301868000%2C%22secret%22%3A%22[….number
removed….]%22%2C%22sig%22%3A%22cdc109ebf0f7a8b43d1862b6e286a10a%22}&next=http%3A%2F%2Folsparents.com%2Fcomponents%2Fcom_comprofiler%2Fplugin%2Fuser%2Fplug_cbfacebookconnect%2Fxd_receiver.htm%3Ffb_login%26fname%3D_opener%26guid%3D0.7594634129200131

In IE, when I press the ‘F Sign In’ button and I’m not logged into
Facebook, a new window opens with the correct Facebook Connect login
dialog. When I login to my main Facebook account, the following error
message appears; “You cannot create a user with this User Group Level. Only
Super Administrators have this ability”. I’ve checked the user settings
with CB User Manager, and my user ID is already set to ‘Super
Administrator’, so I’m a bit confused by this error message. I’ve also
tried logging into to an alternative Facebook account, one that is not
already registered with the CB User Manager. In this case, I can
successfully login as a new user.

Any suggestions as to what I need to do to fix this would be gratefully appreciated.

"An error occurred with User Registration for olsparents.com. Please try again later."
Would seam there's a problem with your application or on Facebooks end.

Please ensure you're using FBC 1.3 as is the latest. The usergroup issue was present in an older release, but fixed in latest. Please also check what usergroup you've specified registered users should be within Joomla global configuration.

Hi Kyle

I upgraded to FBC 1.3 tonight and it seems to have fixed the problem. I wasn't clear from the upgrade instructions whether I had to create a new FB app. The previous FB app didn't seem to be working, so I deleted it and created a new app. It seems to be working fine after that.

I have the 'require admin approval' parameter set to CB default. In the CB Configuration Manager, I have the 'require admin approval' set to Yes. Should I (super administrator) be getting email notification of users signing in with FBC, to remind to approve these requests?

Thanks

Shane

No emails are triggered (except pending/welcome) via FBC as we do not yet have a API library for registrations (done by direct database object). Will be reviewing for next release on how to trigger these emails accordingly.
