Hey guys - excellent work here on the CB search. I have a question about the functionality and wondered if you could clarify.

Say I create a search on a members only page on my site - I assign X number of fields to be searchable here.

Is it possible to create another publicly accessible search (on the same site) that allows Joe-Public to search but with fewer fields - Eg. To prevent them from being able to include a particular field that IS included in the internal member search?

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately you can only configure 1 Joomla search plugin for all the users on your site.

If you want more granularity with searching, may I suggest using the in-build search functionality in CB. You could allow the public to use the simple Joomla search and restrict the advanced CB search to registered users.

For those who use the CB french langage plugin, remember that you have to change the path to the langage php file in cbsearch.php (line 17 and 18)

(or, maybe, there is a better way to do this ?)

I've been searching for a long time the solution to the "Notice" messages that were always appearing in frontend when i was using the search module...

Maybe this information can help other french users...

This plugin is the best one I have found for adding CB to the native search functions, works pretty cool if using an AJAX live search module too!


Now I am looking for the updated version that works with Joomla 1.7

either this plugin or any other 3rd party plugin for Joomla 1.7+ and CB 1.7.1
