coppermine gallery?

The integration into mambo costs some money (www.joombla.com) .. coppermine itself is free for download..

I installed the Pre integration hacked CVS version of coppermine from the joombla site and integrated by installing their integration component.. it worked like a charm.. i have found bugs though.. i get redirected to pages that cannot be found because it forgets to use my gallery directory and tries files in the root of my domain.. but that should be fixable somewhere when i have more time..

What i do not like is the profile system available in coppermine.. it only serves to confuse and steer away from our own system.. we need further integration and make those links go to our CB profiles.. etc etc..

Just my first opinions after installing and looking at it for an hour or so..

There is a new thread on the Joombla.com board re: intergration of Community Builder with Coppermine.

www.joombla.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70&hl=community+builder

Supposedly the bridge that CoppermineVis uses, causes Coppermine to use the Joomla! user database and not the Coppermine user database. They gave an example that if you register on their site you will automaticly have a user photo album on their Coppermine Gallery. If I am reading it correctly.

The version they have available now does cost some money ($14.95), but the developer said he should have a free version out shortly.

The bridge is fairly flawless (if I can say that!) after some tweaking. There are a few small internal bugs that I have found, but Todd (who develops it) is absolutely great at the support and has held all the answers to my questions so far.

He knows what he is doing with this bridge.

Other than the "mini" profile system it has in CPG itself...I think if I someone was to ask todd he would know what to change to overwrite that and direct straight to CB profile.

That beckons the question about getting a plugin that would port the CPG settings over to CB (total number of images uploaded is the only relevant piece of info that appears on the CPG "profile"), and a Gallery tab (to show the uploaded pics of the user), like you have/had for that awful gallery Zoom....and it would work so so well :)

I lost interest.. i bought the bridge and i can no longer enter the forums.. it seems his SMF integration doesn't work..

I have emailed him to ask if he is interested if we create a plugin for him.. haven't received any reply yet.

On his forum there is a thread about CB (several actually).. Todd doesn't seem to understand that 'integrating' versus 'creating an album on a users profile' are two completely different things..

He seems hungup on the fact that if CB uses Joomla user tables (it does) then the 'integration' should 'just work' (it does)..

I am dissapointed that i cannot contact him, and that i cannot access the forums to enlighten him. (i should have payed support access or something on there even lol)

If anyone has access to his forums.. please try to explain to him what a plugin does (create an album on a CB page) versus integration (making the same login work for coppermine).. and mention that some of CB core could be motivated in creating a plugin for coppermine making his bridge even more popular.. if he decides to support it..

There is nothing more i can do.. and as time goes by i am loosing some interest.

I seems i should continue fixing the buggy z00m.. but that i won't release.. (i am not gonna take the Z00M-Enhanced road hihi..) it would be best if we had a stable gallery to work from.. so (besides Pony gallery, coppermine and Zoom,) does anyone know a stable gallery program to create a plugin for ?

What about Gallery2 -- there's a lot of activity for the bridge on the joomlaforge site. I haven't tried it myself, but currently use the 1.5 version. It integrates well.

Could a plugin be made for it? Gallery2 looks pretty sexy!

In my opinion, the Zoom plugin looks and works great here on the site, except for the lightbox feature, which isnt working, and the fact that we all can delete each others pics!

I also heard that it creates a high load on some servers -- so I hesitate implementing it myself.

Thanks for all your efforts DJTrail. You have my thanks!

What about the Gallery2 integration. I think it is very near stable, it is a super powerful and free. You can even do all kinds of editing on the images you have uploaded. I asked the developer and he is planning on creating a pluggin for CB. Maybe you could help him out...Hear is the link to the developers site:
