phpBB Connector V1.0.2 Beta now available

18 years 2 months ago #5173 by RSM
Edenapple ...

Attached is a converter from SB to phpBB.

However. Because of the kludge code that SB creates, the script will often barf on the conversion when it encounters weird characters it doesn't expect.

Rename the .txt to .php and run it in your php dir.

Trial it on a test bed before use.

Can someone help me, I am lost with my install.

Well the install of CB is just fine, the problem is that.
I have phpbb component forum 1.2.4 .

How can I install a new forum, that will work.
either phpbb, or something else.

Thanks
John

Currently the connector is setup to work with the regular version of phpBB versus the phpBB Component. So to take advantage of the plugin you need to:

1) Install Joomla (1.0.4 or 1.0.7)
2) Install CB 1.0 RC2
a) including switching to the CB login module
3) Install phpBB onto the same website as Joomla. Default location is www.yoursite.com/forum... but you can switch directories as long as you set the correct parameter for the plugin
4) Install the phpBB Connector... If not using Version 1.0.2 Beta then go through Community Builder - Plugin Management - phpBB Connector and "Publish" the plugin (V1.0.2 automatically does this)
5) If phpBB is not installed in the default directory then go through Community Builder - Plugin Management - phpBB Connector and set the forum directory..
6) If you have existing CB users of phpBB users that you want to import/export go through Community Builder - Plugin Management - phpBB Connector and select the control panel... This will allow you to match, import, or export users...

Then use...

Hope this helps,
Greg

When I go to phpbb control panel, it opens a new window,
Than I have to login again, to joomla, then takes me back to
the main admin screen of joomla,

I cleared the cache then I get

SQL errorDB function failed with error number 1146
Table 'excelsio_mamb1.phpbb_users' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT count( * ) as total_record FROM phpbb_users WHERE user_active = '1'
SQL =
SELECT count( * ) as total_record FROM phpbb_users WHERE user_active = '1'

Probaly because I was using the phpbb compoent..

No what?

Thanks for the help Greg

Thanks

The SQL error looks as if you have phpBB installed in a seperate database. They will need to be installed into the same database for the connector to work.

The login part... We have some security added to the front of the plugin that makes sure you have a valid admin session in progress... The Control Panel should open a new windows. Send me more details on what is happening when you see it ask for another login...

1) Are you currently logged into the admin side (backend)
2) What browser are you using?
3) What are your browser settings for cookie?
4) Anything else you think might be helpful? PC of Mac, software versions of CB, Joomla, phpBB, etc..

I would really like to figure out what is happening... had not seen this before... but like I was saying we included some of Joomla's security code at the front of our control panel to make sure that someone did not run it directly... need to run through Joomla with Admin logged in...

Thanks,
Greg
