After long hours, I eventually found what is wrong ... but dont understand why it fixes the problem.

I deleted a custom user group : CB works !!
I have created a new user group with same name : it works.
In the database, I modify the ID of this user group in usergroup table, CB doesn't work if I use 6 as ID !!

I can use 6 for all user groups but this one.

Thanx, deleting group 6 in Joomla2.5 and CB1.8 helped.

I had the same problem when I moved the group "Manager" id 6 from being under "Public" to under "Registered"...reverting back everything solved the problem...

THX!
Same here with 2.5 and 1.8... Now it works again.

I've also had some problems with confirm registration emails to moderators (didn't get them), i am not realy 100% sure, didn't check back, but i think this also was some combination with the std. usergroups.
After deleting all groups but registered, public and superuser it appeared... And worked again after creating Manager and Administrator AND editing the Database IDs back to std. ones 6 and 7)

Maybe i'll do it again to know for sure, if i'll find some time.

Why are the usergroup ids used this kind of "special" for CB???

Thanks to everyone who recommended deleting usergroup ID 6 to resolve this problem.

We had the same utterly frustrating problem with CB 1.9 and J 2.5.9. Presumably the fault must be in Joomla, but CB was the only component affected by it.

Finally with the help of this thread we resolved the problem by deleting Joomla usergroup 6 which, on our site, was 'Manager'.
