Do you have IPN configured appropriately and are users being sent back to your site from paypal correctly? I could not confirm this issue locally. The integration is not specific to frontend or backend, same API is used on both sides.

It's possible the user at registration does not have a subscriber_id as in they do not exist within AcyMailing yet. Will have to review AcyMailing API further to see about adding the user to AcyMailing if they do not exist as does the VirtueMart integration.

I've created a bug ticket to have this issue further addressed for next release.

I think I am also seeing the same behavior as ksnieder, and I may have a clue. In my case, I have two acymailing lists, and I want CBSubs acymailing integration to subscribe a user to one (or both) lists. It looks like if the plan wants to add the user to the first list choice shown on the selection box,it works. But if the plan wants to add the user to the second choice it fails (nothing appears to have happened). And if both lists are selected for the user to join, he gets added only to the first one. I have not done rigorous testing to confirm this, but that is what looks like is happening.

And if this is the case, maybe that is whey your test case appeared to work, Krileon? Did you add your test user to the first of the acymailing list choices? That could explain why it seemed to work for you but ksnieder and I are both seeing erratic behavior.

just when I thought I had all the wrinkles ironed out...

I tested with a single list and then again with mutple lists selected. The list values should store to database as its respective parameter as value1|*|value2|*|etc... This is then exploded, cleaned, validated, then added to array as per acymailing instructions and then passed to acymailing. I've a bug ticket in place to further investigate, but believe is working perfectly fine with a possible conflict happening. Only true way to confirm is have a fresh installed with only Joomla + CB + CBSubs + AcyMailing and if issue is consistent then is likely a bug.

I will try to do a fresh install on a sandbox site, but won't have time for several weeks. But will I be able to do that given that my CBSubs and acyMailing keys are running on my production site? Or is that something a developer will need to do?

CBSubs permits 1 production and 1 development site per key. I can't speak for AcyMailing, it does have a free edition which is sufficient for usage and testing so that shouldn't be of issue.
