[#2374] Errors in paypal logs for CBSubs transactions

13 years 2 weeks ago #156549 by RCheesley
The first part is what the SITE is generating (all plans are set up to be exclusive of VAT, with the VAT rate being calculated at purchase).

The second part is the invoice from paypal. It says that the PLAN COST is £33.60 (rather than £42), that the VAT is £16.80 rather than £8.40, and comes to the same (correct) value.

I have no clue where to even start looking, as far as I am aware the system on CBSubs AND on Paypal is correct. Am submitting a ticket.

Was able to confirm your issue and have created a bug ticket for it. For some reason Paypal is either not receiving the correct information from CBSubs or Paypal is not calculating correctly based off that information. Will require a deeper investigation to determine the cause.

I'm having to take the paypal system offline as this is causing so much confusion amongst members of the website, not sure how long it will take to fix?

They have several members a day sign up, probably 1 or 2 using Paypal, so it's a significant issue.

Is there any way that I can disable the paypal gateway without deleting all the subscribers who have used Paypal - i.e. put it offline for new purchases? I tried to find a disable feature and there doesn't seem to be one, and I can't delete it as there are baskets associated with it. What are the implications of deleting the baskets, and will it require me to delete all the members who subscribed via Paypal as well (not an option)?

To disable the gateway simply edit it and set Enable PayPal: to No. I do not know how long for a fix, sorry. Tax integration is still relatively new and will be refined more with next release.

Replied by Thelowlandpiper on topic Re: Errors in paypal logs for CBSubs transactions
I was about to post a new question when I found this topic, which seems closely related:
I have been receiving confusing messages from paypal notifications for subscriptions; the field Log Type has 'PDT Amount/item mismatch / Fraud attempt' and the Verification field has 'business email mismatch'; [my configuration has my Merchant ID in the business email field] so far only 1 out of 10 attempts to pay for subscriptions hsa 'SUCCESS' in the verification, though they are all 'completed' and I have receipts; also, there are no records in the Payments table; what's more, one user managed to pay for a subscription plan [with child sub for publication] and we recieved his payment, but he is listed as having only the Free Registration. Clearly something is amiss here, but I can't see what;

[Joomla 1.5; CB 1.4; CBsubs 1.1.2]

Having read this thread I have entered the primary email into the 'main receiver' field, which was formerly blank, since the primary email is the same as the site-set-up email. No VAT payments are configured in CBSubs or in Paypal;
Since making this change and editing this post; I have received a successful payment with the approproates entries in payments and notifications, so this begnis to look like ths olution;' if so, then the notes about configuring the payment gateway in CBSubs mislead me to think that this 'Main Receiver email' field needed to be filled only if you hade several businesse on the same paypal account; we have only one, but it does have two emails
