error method move trying to upload profile image

i found it. /images/comprofiler/ was on 755. changing it to 777 made it possible to upload avatar-images.

is this plausible?

edit: the error is reproducable this way as well. why is it not working after normal installation? what is the reason /images/comprofiler/ is set on 755? is there harm in letting it be in 777?

Most hosts don't require 777 to upload, that's an absurdly high permission you're giving the public. Your host needs to fix their PHP upload and so it uses owner or group permission and can use 755 or 775.

it is my own dedicated Centos 5.8 server with WHM/cPanel. I can recompile it using easyApache. The Joomla-install was made with Installatron. CB-install was according to tutorial.

At what stage/level is the 777/755 determined? By CentOS? By WHM? By cPanel? Easuapache? Installatron? Joomla? Or CB-install?

I am not that tech-savy to know where to change it, but with a pointer i should be able to work my way towards it.

You have to change ownership of your web folder. Example as follows.

stackoverflow.com/questions/5165183/apache-permissions-php-file-create-mkdir-fail
stackoverflow.com/questions/7694779/group-and-owner-permissions-are-wrong-when-php-uploads-files

I'm on Windows and also not a web server expert so there's really not much more I can advise. You may want to contact a server expert on proper configuration.
