I am logged in as admin - why am I getting this message when I try to save or save & close?

Saving a message where? In Private Message System > Messages? Does your user within CB > User Management have Super Users usergroup and only Super Users usergroup? If not then fix your users usergroups as Super Users should have no other usergroups.

I am logged in as a super user.

This saving issue first happened when I was making a change (adding a link to another post) in Kunena.

I just added CB Paid Subs to the site.

It rejects any of my changes to the CB Paid Subscriptions: General plugin settings.

You've a mod_security issue causing a false positive. You'll need to contact your host regarding that.
