I dug into the uddeim code and at the point that it sends the notification email I do a check to see if they sign up for text messages. If they do, then I use php to send an email to their phone using their phone number @ cellcarrier.com All through the use of fields that the user sets up on their profile. It arrives as a text message. If you need further clarification feel free to ask.

Do you have the user identify their cell carrier?

Yes I have a tab in their profile user edit that contains this info in fields. One field is their phone number. One field is their cell carrier. And another is a system of fields to identify a "blackout" time of day period, so that they won't receive nuisance text messages at 3am for instance.

The cell carrier drop down field then corresponds in my code to the proper address. For instance I believe verizon is @vtext.com.
