[SOLVED] Confirmation with login

[SOLVED] Confirmation with login was created by bizguy
I am generating a temporary password with a new user registration, and sending a Confirmation email. When the new member follows the Confirmation link, I would like them to be taken to a change password form, without the additional steps of the system sending a temporary password, which the user must again retrieve from their email, to log into the site to setup a new password.

Can you direct me on how to do this?

Thanks,

Ed

Edit the user within CB > User Management and set "Reset Password" to "Yes" to force them to reset their password. Shouldn't require any additional steps beyond supplying a new password on next login attempt.

Thanks for the response but I was looking to configure the site so that this the automatic process for all new registrations.

Suggest just not generating passwords in that case. Let users supply their own and you won't need reset password functionality at all. You can configure the validation for the password field if you need it strict. If you still need this then the only option would be to use CB Auto Actions acting on the onAfterUserRegistration trigger using a Query action against the _users Joomla database table to set their "requireReset" column to 1.

Thanks Kyle,

I had opted to do part 1 of your suggestion, and the client seems happy with it.

Thank you also for providing a solution, should it be needed in the future.

Cheers,

Ed
