You'd need to provide the exact REGEXP you're using and what value you're trying to match for me to see why the REGEXP is erroring. Often you don't need REGEXP unless there's an exact pattern you need to match. If you're just trying to see if a value existing in a multi-select type field or if a string exists in another string you can use the Contains operators.
