How do I link user registration with user access

How do I link user registration with user access was created by tlavalle
i have a question I am using jaclpus and cb, how do i link the user acces with the new filed i created that asks the department they are in?
(I.E. if you work in Surgery Scheduling, you would select surgery scheduling on the registraion form, when user is created they are give the access levels for a person in surgery scheduling)
can this be done automatically? so i don't have to manually do this each and every person?
