the metadata does match the payment basket order_id and the user_id matches as well. sounds like this is an anomaly.
i have double/triple checked and everything matches correctly on stripe, but not working on cbsubs. very strange, i am contacting the user now to see if we can cancel & repay.

Looks like this can happen if the payment form times out during the basket storage process for whatever reason. At that point the charge has already been initiated at Stripe. Will implement handling for this in the IPNs to go ahead and pay the basket flipping it from NotInitialized to Completed properly when the charge IPN comes through.

thank you for the upcoming release, would you be so kind as to update this ticket?
to confirm, will that in any way ever cause a user to gain access if the payment was timed out but not actually completed?

I honestly hope so. It was the closest I could get to replicating payment at Stripe, but no payment in CBSubs. It however didn't return me to the basket it just displayed a white page as result of timeout. I honestly have no clue how your user hit the situation they did, but may have been a combination of caching and timeout issue. With next release baskets in NotInitialized with an IPN that comes through should properly pay to help circumvent this issue as it technically could happen in extremely rare cases when Stripe successful pays, but CBSubs times out after that HTTP call.

No, they can't gain access without Stripe reporting the payment was successful.
