Stripe country code not working

[#8119] Stripe country code not working was created by wjgadmin
We're using the stripe gateway just released with the test server via the gateway settings. We're trying to submit the test payment and get the following error:
Country 'United States' is unknown. Try using a 2-character alphanumeric country code instead, such as 'US', 'EG', or 'GB'. A full list of country codes is available at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2#Officially_assigned_code_elements

Please advise, is this due to the test server only or a problem with the live as well? thank you

Additionally, we tried disabling the address & country code. We then received this error (this is all on the test server using the provided 4242...... credit card):
Your card has been declined.

We've now tried on the live server as well, same error.

2 character is being used. Where are you seeing this exactly? The credit card form with "Ask for card billing address for AVS" set to "ZIP-code + country" or "Street-address + ZIP-code + country"?

Ok, was able to confirm the core CBSubs AVS input is using full name instead of 2 character. This would've been an issue since release of CBSubs Stripe though. Odd it was only discovered now so possible API change in CBSubs or Stripe causing the issue. Working on a fix now.

Your shouldn't need AVS if you use invoice address though as we'll send invoice address if AVS isn't used.

Thank you for the fix! Indeed we have recently enabled the full address & country to alleviate fraud (help at least) per the recommendation of Stripe. During these challenging times, I believe they're seeing more charges of that type.
