fields with default value

fields with default value was created by maddunr
Hi,

I think it would be a good idea to be able to create fields (using Field Management) with default parameters.

For example:
- check box with default checked or not
- radio buttons with select or not
- text fields with default values etc.

.. you get the idea :)

I totally agree. I'm using "User Read Only?" fields that need a default value. Haven't gone into the code to look if it can be done easily. If one of the guru's can provide tips...

EDIT: Back button seems to have some unwanted effects, sorry...

EDIT: I just found and tried the technique described here
But it doens't seem to work. I'm using a Single select drop down, which is not required, shown on profile, user read only, not shown at registration and published.

Glad to see there is growing interest in this much needed feature :). I hope the CB gods are listening!

@ ysva, modifying the db is of course an option.. but we are pressing for this as a feature. db modifications are risky (for inexperienced users) and do not carry forward when the component is upgraded / re-installed. it is best left for advanced users.
