cb connector can't see a forum directory

16 years 2 weeks ago #59988 by iannak
Well my main Joomla site is www.infopili.gr and a phpbb3 forum is properly installed in a subdomain:
forum.infopili.gr
CB connector can't connect to my forum.
i tryed all possible variants for "directory for the forum" parameter, but nothing!
LOCATE FORUM BY: based on a adsolute path
Directory for the Forum:
forum.infopili.gr
forum.infopili.gr (with and without end slash)
var/www/vhosts/infopili.gr/subdomains/forum/httpdocs/
(with and without the slash before "var")

When I put an new directory "Forum" in my main site, like this:
www.infopili.gr/forum/
and copy a root files of phpbb into it, all is ok. no problem!
But I want my forum to be in separate subdomain, as I sed above.
All server, php, mysql requirements are ok even I have installed and enabled the xajax plugin. The forum and joomla use the same database.

Sorry for my english. Thank's.

try two slashes infront of var... To help note the format of the directory when select "relative to joomla root" then make sure the absolute directory begining matches the begining of that path. Just in case you need to make sure the subforum is on the same server so it can load the files.

Don't forget to enter the override URL.

Thank you for reply.
I tryed with two slashes too, but that is not a solution.

The forum is on the some server.

looks like there might be a CBC bug there... double slashes in input but not in directory being checked...

Here is another way

Select either per DOCUMENT_ROOT or per Joomla Install

use a relative path for example

[code:1]../../../forum[/code:1]

[use your actual relative path :-) ]

Hi geeffland!
I find, that with joomla root even with absolute path selected, it's ok, only if I place the forum's folder in the httpdocs folder (see the pic.)

The problem appears, if I place the forum's folder in any other folder of /var/www/vhosts/infopili.gr/ including the subdomains folder. And that is not a permissions problem.
It is very sad, because I spend so much time for that with no results yet! :(
I would not want to change the forum because of that.
And thank you for your response.

If it works in one directory set using absolute path but not the other... and both are the same forum (i.e. phpbb2 vs phpbb3) then it would have to be a server issue... so either permissions or some other hardcoded stuff on the server.

What this path is used for is it loads the core files for the forum... so php is using it to load other php files on the server.

Not sure where else to direct you other than the webhost
