install fails was created by jocit
Hi,
Trying to install CB into my new joomla install.

I tried the automatic install, then I get an error about a setup XML file missing.

Then I tried manual install and got an error about not being able to create the image directory

all folders are Cmod 777.

When trying to upload and install the comprofiler.zip I get the error attached.

Does any one know what the problem could be?

cheers,
Jonas:blink:

Try this:

extract your comprofiler.zip and see if there is a file by the name of: comprofiler.xml in the comprofiler directory when you unzip it. If there isn't then try redownloading the .zip file, if there is we better figure out what's causing it =0

I have the exact same error:

Warning: opendir(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect.

from what i can find, shared hosting packages usually enable safe mode on PHP.... and my hosting company will not disable it...

Is there a work around ? I changed the config so that all new files and folders are 777

I did find this on the forge:

forge.joomla.org/sf/projects/safejoomla

I haven't tried or tested it though, you're best bet would be to contact your hosting provider and see if they can disable safe mode for your environment. Explain to them what you are trying to do and hopefully they will be able to accomidate your needs ,if not it might be time to look for another provider possibly. That's just my two cents. Working with Joomla with safe mode on is a nightmare, at least from when I've tried to help people out. Installing everything manually isn't fun. ;) Good Luck!!
