Maybe it was just the screenshot made CB look like very dangerous sneaky evil software =) Seems to be a misunderstanding and a very sensitive firewall application that produced the false positive.

To answer fully with the normal transparency on your assertions:

1. I repeat: CB and Joomlapolis have not intended to and not collected any information through the version-check !

2. The refering url (in this case, Site URL, aka mos_config_liveSite is part of the standard HTTP Request, and is implemented by all browsers. To insure a as trouble-free as possible request, we need to be as standard as possible, and this is fully part of the standard.

I don't understand how this basic public information can be considered as private, as it's part of standards and available on public DNS-servers.

A setting to turn off version-check is a nice feature-request, which is welcome to the CB-Feature request tracker.

thanks for explaining this. I like this component very much and thank you for your work. By the way, I prefer sending information or doing a version check if I want, so this is a good feature for the next version
