Ways of CB installation

Ways of CB installation was created by eldinor
I cannot install CB on Joomla 1.0.8 through the Web-interface - every time I got the next error:

[code:1] Upload component - Upload Failed
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.

Installation file not found:
.../public_html/mysite.org/media/install_4426bede4b5c7/[/code:1]

Are there any other ways to install this excellent component?
Is it possible to do it through FTP?

Thznks for your help.

You can read the xml file and upload the files to the right places manually. Then run the installation sql. See joomla documentation for details.

You need to unzip first the downloaded package (read file name ;))

Yes, I unzipped everything first :)
Probably you could tell more about the destinations of all CB files - for example,

all files from comprofiler.zip go into mysite.org/components/
all files from mod_comprofilermoderator.zip go into mysite.org/modules

I suppose something should go into mysite.org/administrator/components/ and mysite.org/administrator/modules

But I still cannot understand, even from xml file, what goes where.
I suppose this information would be very helpful to a lot of people. Could you give the short summary of CB file structure in Joomla directories?
Thank you for your attention and help.

P.S. And, as I understand, after all uploadings I run the install.sql from phpmyAdmin?

By the way, this is a common problem - see forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,46078.0.html

I have also experienced exactly the same error when trying to install on any version of Joomla from 1.04 to 1.08. Also when I try to install manually from the comprofiler directory in the \adminstrator\components\com_installer\component directory I get an error 'cannot write images folder'

It sounds like a permissions problem. I have uploaded other components such ad Joomlaboard and Virtuemart with no difficulty previously.

Can anyone point me to a solution please?

Thanks

Mike
