Personally I would rather the development team test, test and retest until they are 150% sure it works.
What a lot of you guys posting "when will it be done I've been waiting monnnnths" don't realise is, a component of the magnitude of Community Builder, which lets face it, I would hazard a guess probably about 60-70% of all Joomla sites use, has a HUGE list of interacting components, modules and plugins to ensure that it plays nicely, many of which are quite complex.
This probably involves working closely with the creators of said components to ensure plugins are created (or alternatively that it is supported "out of the box") at a similar rate to the actual CB plugin itself, ensuring that on release date virtually all components/modules/plugins will work with the CB subscription system. Not to mention keeping on top of developments within the Joomla! CMS itself, to ensure any changes that they make in the coming months will not completely scupper all the hard work that has been done thus far.
It would be counter productive for the team to release even a beta version, only to have oodles of bugs be reported, problems with installation and such like. Particularly so with a component as business-critical as a payment/subscription system.
As it is, using Ioncube there will inevitably be a problem for a HUGE amount of people using cheap or free hosting where Ioncube is not supported, and hence this plugin will not work. This will generate an amount of support requests in itself. I know this as a good friend of mine had this problem with his component, and it got to the point that it cost him more in terms of time and money dealing with all the support requests than he actually made from the component itself.
Anyway, I suppose what I am trying to say is read the progress thread (which is stickied), and stop wasting the developers' and testers' time by posting "will it do this, when will it be released, why isn't it here, why can't I download it yet" threads which are pointless and a waste of everyone's time.
If you are that desperate for a payment/subscription system then go and use AEC of JUGA (as I have done on several sites while awaiting this plugin) rather than posting constant messages demanding we all take pity on you because you have been waiting xx months for this plugin to be ready.
Anyone who reads the stickied thread giving the timescales and what stage the development is currently at, can see that it is getting towards the early beta release, but it won't be ready for a little while yet, so STOP ASKING AND BE PATIENT!
OK I'll get off my soap box now!
