undoIT is correct when it comes to that this system is not against GPL. The impatient ones have two options: Either become a subscriber or get the cb 1.2 in some other way. Since it is under GPL there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting cb 1.2 via torrent or in other ways (say pay a subscriber for the product). But by becoming a subscriber you directly support the project and that's better in the long run.

GPL applies when things are released to public.

RC code is given to doc subscribers on an extended testing group basis and should not be redistributed.

If we find such a doc subscriber violating this we must take action.

I gotta ask... WHEN?!

Considering the "known issues" with the current public release (login cookie probs are killing me), it seems a bit passive-aggressive to brag about 1.2RC2 and thank subscribers while dangling the new version over those that have not "donated". In effect, you are asking people to pay for the product, and most folks will take it that way.

Not that I'm inclined to do it, but by milking it for this long you are just begging people to bootleg 1.2RC2 to the end of the P2P universe. You can't fight human nature.

I myself am waiting to see how 1.2 works before "donating" the required fee to be a subscriber. If the support remains this thin and the public releases are this sluggish, I think I'll start looking for another community solution.

With all due respect, you're either open source, or you're not. Pick one.

EDIT: If 1.2 is not ready for prime time, then keep your publicity notices confined to those that are already subscribers, and call it what it is: "1.2Beta". "CB 1.2 RC2 has been released to doc subscribers" is plastered all over my email and the admin back-end.

How's about you don't brag about it until it's finished.

I have to agree, every two weeks I check back for CB...

to say CB team will release it "When it's ready" ? What???

Since when is it EVER ready? It's not like 1.1 was ever stable in itself or bug free.

One short question: is this going to be released before the end of August or not? cause at this rate I might as well shift site to Drupal, considering Joomla 1 to 1.56 is a nightmare upgrade anyway.

interesting times for Joomla/CB eh?

Anyway. This is not to disrespect anyone... but it is frustrating for those of us who can't/won't splash out on docs. Also this site has become very teasy - muich better looking and ffaster and I'd like some of that please.

Community Builder has morphed into Clique Builder with version 1.2 RC 2 it seems.

Personaly, i don't understand this discussion. Of course each time i can, i choose free component but when it will take me so much time to configurate old outdated component i prefer to pay a really small fee and have a better service. CB 1.1 didn't worked fine for me so i have begun to be subscriber. I really don't regret it altouhght my site is non-commercial and contains no adds.

Its crazy, how do you expect to receive feedback on the development of an "Open Source" application if is not released to the public? You have to pay to test it and when it's ready you can get it free?
