My opinion ...
Given that are creating new plugin, why not an entire plugin that allows you to set a default group registration? It would be useful, many people are asking ...

Congratulations ...

i have a question for the devs. what is the current status on making a connector for having cb link to phpbb3 profiles. i am asking this because i am currently using jfusion 1.0.8 with joomla and it seems to be that we need a way to link phpbb3 with cb

CB 1.2 RC 4 now supports joomla 1.5 authentication plugins !!! (with a setting in CB backend config: login method...)

also RC 3 already worked fine with jfusion, in addition of CB connector, so you got plenty of methods
