To fix the Breadcrumbs please edit templateDetails.xml and change:

<position>breadcrumb</position>

to:

<position>breadcrumbs</position>

Note the 's' is missing.
Then publish your module to that 'breadcrumbs' position, assigned to all or specific pages as needed.
