local test site

local test site was created by richpeers
Few questions i'm strugling with

1.)Development of our site is located at www.test.domain.com. I undertand the licence allows for 2 sites, intended for main and development sites.

The concern I have is that the test.domain.com site is live on the internet to allow other people to develop the site, as such we keep site disabled in joomla global config so only admin can access it. Naturally this creates issues when setting up a complex subscription setup.

Much of the test site is edited on a local machine (it makes it a million times faster to make changes in real time). So we copy the site files and database locally, edit them, then upload them back to the test server for other team members to use. Would doing this affect the licence when the local copy is running with no access to it from the internet? NB My ISP also changes the IP address every few hours

2.) For restricted content/urls etc, is it possible to specify a redirect url specific to the restricted item and user groups?

3.)is it possible to customise templates for the registration forms?

4.) is it possible to restrict only parts of certain pages of other components or content such like ambra can insert tags to the content? (i know cbsubs provides capability around 'read more..' but am after more flexibility, in conjuction with redirects as in question 2.) above

5.) is the licence upgradable to say unlimited from 500user, or would a second licence need to be later purchased?

  1. This shouldn't cause any problems. At any rate you can opt you not put in the license for the live site version or contact us if problems should arise when you go to launch your site.
  2. Not that I am aware of. A Joomla plugin would likely need to be developed to do this.
  3. Yes, edit the CSS. Inspect the registration form with Firebug or Web Developer for Firefox to see the elements.
  4. Restrict PARTs of a component? Yes if it's a URL you can use partial URLs otherwise no you can't restrict parts of a component if they're under the same URL. Example: option=test&task=edit. You could restrict option=test&task=edit while still having access to say option=test&task=view.
  5. Yes you can upgrade your license at any point in time simply by going to your profile here and navigating to your subscriptions tab.
