Expiration email question

Expiration email question was created by Aly
My members are used to me having manually sent a renewal reminder to them 2 weeks prior to their expiration date. Now it appears that the expiration emails go out at the end of their membership period and grace period.

The purpose of the "grace period" is to allow them time -- after being notified of pending expiration -- to come back and renew.

Please advise how I can set this up so that my annual members receive notification in advance of their expiration date?

Unfortunately currently you can not send emails in advance; the possibility of this is being investigated for a future release. :(

Thanks.
I didn't realize that and am surprised that was not already how it worked. Since my memberships are 1 year duration I am only now beginning to get feedback from my members and they were distraught to receive an expiration notice with no advance warning :(

I was extremely suprised that this wasn't implemented already as part of the email notification workflows seeing as virtually every other process is, and this would seem to be one of the most important points in the membership renewal! I have some code from a previous post and have been advised what needs to be altered, so if anyone is good at coding it might be a fairly quick job to get it working.

It most definitely will be possible with the release of the API, but has yet to become available at this time. However, it is also a planned feature implementation (under investigation). Don't have release date unfortunately and has yet to begin implementation, sorry.

You're joking? Right?

None of our members will get an email to advise them their membership is about to expire in xx days?

I can't believe that. It's fundamental. It's not very user friendly to just cancel a subscription until payment is made without any notice.

It's easy enough to get around by importing all your members into an acajoom list and sending an email but, really, it shouldn't have to be a manual process.
