[SOLVED] Different Warning with Different Articles

14 years 5 months ago #115305 by tbream
I'm currently doing testing and trying to sort out what I may have done wrong in configuration as I am getting two different work flow results when attempting to view an article from the Front Page or the Most Read list when there isn't a valid subscription yet.

When you click on one article title, it consistently takes me to the article page, shows the text that is above the read more break, and shows the line "To read more, a membership is needed. Click here to subscribe".

However, if I click on another article that seems to be configured in the identical way as the first, it takes me directly to a Warning Page that provides me with a subscription plan I can sign up for in order to view the article.

Right now, I'm only using content tab options for one test subscription plan, and all the sections, categories and menu options seem to be configured correctly.

Any idea why I am ending up with two different results?

Is perhaps one article under a menu that is protected? This includes a menu to the articles category or section, the protection is applied to Itemid as modules are displayed based off Itemid.

As you suggested, my problem is keyed to how I was handling menu access on the Content Tab, Menu section. Your guidance has pointed me in the right direction to get it configured as I need it to be. Thank you.

I'm going to follow-up to share what I learned so that others don't follow the path of my error.

I had some legacy menu items that weren't being used but existed that came over from the original Joomla installation. Long story short, those legacy menus interfered with the proper operation of CBSubs. My bust for not realizing it earlier.
