[SOLVED] Access to Front Page Articles Only

13 years 6 months ago #143024 by tbream
I'm trying to figure out a way to configure two plans - the first allowing access to articles in all sections and categories, and the second more restrictive, allowing access to only articles flagged in Joomla as "front page" - a subset of the articles in all sections and categories.

Any suggestions by others keying off the "front page" toggle?

Thanks

If am understanding correctly you've articles in categories that are protected but are also frontpage articles, but you don't want the frontpage articles protected? Best I can suggest is create a new category and move all your frontpage articles to it and not protect that category (or section, whatever the case). Alternatively you can protect just the readmore text and make all of the frontpage articles as the "intro" text as in don't use a readmore break in them.

Kyle -

Thanks for your thoughts on this - I just wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything. We are going to adjust our workflow rather than get hung up on this particular functionality - it isn't so key that we can't use another approach. I'm not even going to suggest it as a possible future feature, as I know you have enough on your plate now.

Appreciate the feedback.

Best,
Ted
