SQL Action / Variation of CB Fields Integration

14 years 7 months ago #110879 by djackso1
I'm looking for suggestions on how to accomplish the following:

We purchase membership numbers from our parent organization. We receive the 10-digit numbers in a spreadsheet. The numbers are in sequential order. We have created a read-only text field in CB to hold this number. After a member registers, we manually edit their profile and add their membership number to the read-only text field. I'm looking for a way to automate this process.

The CB Fields Integration Plugin will almost work, except that we have 8 different membership types, and all of them need to assign membership numbers from the same base list.

I was thinking an SQL action may work. I can get the membership numbers into a database table, I'm just not sure how to sequentially assign them upon member registration.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you. -Dave

The plugins work on subscription, not simply on registration, etc..

You could just develop a new plugin to do this. My tutorials (see signature) cover Trigger usage and can help with creating a plugin to trigger on registration and do the query for you.

Thanks a lot for the follow up. I have started to read your tutorials. In the event that this is too complicated for me, would you be interested in contracting for this?

Tutorial is designed to assist you in developing the plugin easily. An example is also provided. In the event this is not enough to develop to your needs you may contact me for custom development on my site. Please review contract information on my site.
