See attached; the html is being stripped in the Custom Label. I would like the tags to be clickable, as they refer to other user profiles.

Is there another way to approach this?

I also tried some substitutions in here as follows:

[cb:userfield field="avatar" user="[value]" /] [cb:url location="profile_view" user="[value]" /] [label] @[value]

Avatar isn't essential, I was just experimenting, but I'm seeing escaped rather than rendered html output for the avatar (see attached)

Ok understood. I can see how I can get full output customisation with CB Code but the tag/autocomplete driven process for inputting wouldn't be available if I went down this route, correct?

So in this scenario I'd need to double-up all fields of this type?

Are custom field types still a 'thing'? Is there any documentation around how to create these? I couldn't see anything obvious.

I've noticed that for editing, Query Tag uses select lists rather than autocomplete and the lookups for these could include up to 8000 items, which presents a problem as these are all loaded into the DOM.

A previous version of the site I'm working on (created by a separate, now retired developer) used custom field types. This was back in the days of Joomla 1.5.
