[SOLVED] install trouble was created by cschuetz
When I try to install, install stops and I get a message (and screenshot of it is attached):

-=-=-

"You have chosen to open index.php ...

What should Firefox do with this file?

Open with ...
Save File

-=-=-

My environment is as follows:

Hosted at SiteGround

PHP Built on: Linux serv01.siteground165.com 2.6.28.5-grsec-sg2 #6 SMP Fri Feb 20 02:45:11 CST 2009 i686

Database Version: 5.0.77mm0.1-log

Database Collation: utf8_general_ci

PHP Version: 5.2.9

Web Server: Apache/1.3.41 (Unix) mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.31 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 PHP-CGI/0.5

Web Server to PHP interface: cgi

Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.15 Stable [ Wojmamni Ama Mamni ] 05-November-2009 04:00 GMT

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6

-=-=-

Have tried CB 1.2 Stable, CB 1.2.1, and CB 1.2.2 and get the same result -- install does not succeed.

-=-=-

Also tried uploading via FTP, then using Joomla's "Install from Directory" and got exactly the same result (same message as shown in screenshot), and failure to install.

-=-=-

Any ideas what I can do? Please help.

Thanks,
Carl Schuetz

Please ensure you're trying to install com_comprofiler.zip via Joomla extension installer. Also if on a MAC please unzip com_comprofiler.zip and rezip without the MAC added files (_MACOS folder I believe).

Thanks for your rapid reply.

Yes, I am trying to install com_comprofiler.zip via Joomla extension installer.

I am using a Mac. The Mac does not add anything into the Zip file while downloading. (How could it? One might assume Macs could add Mac-specific files when creating a Zip archive, but not in the process of simply downloading an existing Zip archive.) But, I did check to be sure, and there is no folder named _MACOS or anything similar.

The Web site did have some other add-on modules (Mad_Blanks, Alpha Registration, Frontend User Access) which I had disabled and uninstalled per the advice on the CB web site. Yet, I cannot install CB.

Please help.
Thanks...

CB 1.2.2 has been installed as well as all its modules. The issue was with FTP layer in Joomla global configuration. Disabling this resulted in resolving the issue. Configuration of your new CB installation will be left to you however. I recommend reviewing your documentation very closely and carefully if this is your first CB install. Please let me know if you have any further issues. B)
