[SOLVED] Module Positions not working

14 years 4 months ago #117780 by tudogs
Module positioning not working properly on template. This may be a Joomla 1.5.15 issue, I am not sure.

This is the site: www.yellowknifeonline.com/

Specifically it does not look like the demo at all. I went through all docs and unless I am blind (hey it happens) I can't see the fix.

Also reinstalled joomla and CB and Coolness template and every time the template will show a text random link of a left side menu item at the top of the right side. Very strange indeed. BTW, am using .htaccess that came with Joomla install. Never had any problems like this with default templates that come with Joomla 1.5.

You've set a module to the Pathway position instead of the Left or Right module positions, it appears to be the "latestnews" module.

Thanks a bunch! That opened my eyes.

So what I am going to assume, but will verify in a bit on my behalf, is that the actual module positions (i.e. top, left, right etc.) are assigned in the template code and that the reason that the templates in the default Joomla installation all use the same positioning and that Coolness changes things up a bit in that i.e. user1 and user2 might be in a little different area. Or put in a more concise way, the default templates code with Joomla install templates is more consistent with one another.

Each template might have different module positions. See this to find out which are in any given template.

You may also review the documentation included in the template package for your template; it does include a diagram of the module locations.
