Any thought to requiring users to follow certain password complexity requirements to assist in security of logins?

This could be an optional check box in addition to the minimum requirements already by default of 6 characters, numbers and letters only.

Example, user must create a password that is a minimum of 8 characters and must provide a combination of letters, numbers and symbols?

If this has already been done, can someone point me in the right direction?
