Many many thanks - that makes a lot of sense. I saw those other articles re: Eventlist.
I have contacted 1and about upgrading PHP to minimum 5.2.6 PATCHED. If they can't do it in a day or so I will switch hosts to joomlapolis, which is where the site should be hosted in the first place...

With some digging you're receiving the following error due to error_reporting settings being set for Development and not Production based.

Non-static method JFactory::getDBO() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context
[/code:1]
Please set the following within your PHP.ini file to exclude such errors.
[code:1]
error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_STRICT
[/code:1]
Your PHP should not be running in strict mode as such setting is for Development purposes only. Strict will basically kill your site if there's an error, disabling it will allow proper diagnosing of the issue at had; once completed reproduce the issue and re-review error logs.
