i just learned how to use the joomla contacts component

No, the point of that URL is to contact the user being clicked. Sending to profile defeats the point of the component. Please use userlists if you just want a list of specific users.

oh thanks for that
about that userlist how would you go about using/making one? is there a something out there of that purpose or do i just need to manually use html code to make a list of users and their profiles?

I recommend subscribing for the documentation; creating user lists is very basic and self explanatory. Please view Userlist Management within your Joomla backend.
