not recently, acajoom has been installed well before CB (7+ months)

I was able to edit many users before it finally said "no more"

I would dare to guess that Acajoom won't let you add new users in CB or Joomla backend if email address doesn;t validate.

why would it work for 50+ users then just stop

I have uninstalled acajoom and the issue continues.

the backend ajax validation fails.

unless an actual live domain is used.

I have used dummy email in CB before.. its never been a problem.

The backend ajax email checker does not stop you - it only issues a warning - so lets leave this out of discussion as irrelevant.

regarding why it would work for 50+ and then just stop ...

well something changed in your environment because the code does not mutate.

Regarding dummy email being used in CB - you are correct, CB does not care if email is dummy or real - never did care. So you indirectly confirmed that its not CB that is causing the issue. It is something else you installed/changed after the 50+ users.

regarding uninstalling Acajoom, I have read stories that it never properly uninstalls and that it leave things behind (joomla plugin?) that tend to cause problems.

Sorry cannot be of further assistance with seeing what you have done.

I also was not able to save valid email addresses.

The problem occurred when I used mixed case (or upper case) email addresses.

Apparently the validation routine only allows lowercase which is unfortunate.

You can change the email validation by editing the field within Field Management.

I am using Community Builder 1.2.3

I am editing the 'email' field in 'Field Management' and set the "Authorized Input" field to the pre-set "Any String".

I have also set "Required?" to No.

I am still being forced to enter a well-formed and lowercase email address before an update is allowed. I always receive an alert box that says "Please enter a valid email address." (Unless it is well-formed and lowercase).

I appreciate your great product and this is currently my only problem.
