Maybe I am missing something. Before one user connects with another, I would like them to be able to access a partial view of the user they want to connect with. At the moment, I can only see an all or nothing, you know, you set either allow link to profile on user lists to true or false. Is there any way to do this?

You can use the privacy plugin to mark some fields/tabs to be viewable only by connections.
